After a long wait, the eager public has finally had their chance to ride Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit -- the newest ride to hit Universal Studios Orlando.

The ride, which was constructed by Maurer Söhne, was due to open in July this year. However, for some unknown reason, the soft opening was pushed back until August 15. No official source has stated why the launch was delayed.

Rockit is the tallest roller coaster within the Universal Orlando complex and features an exhilarating 17-storey drop with a top speed of 104 kilometres per hour.

The ride has already received its fair share of good reviews, although according to various members on ThemeParkReview.com, Manta at Sea World Orlando still beats Rockit.

Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is located in the Production Central section of Universal Studios Florida. The ride is still in soft opening mode.
